The knowledge and understanding of health assessments are essential to a nurse’s role in promoting health, preventing illness, and caring for others. Health assessments are conducted every day in nursing and other health profession. This essay aims to discuss the importance of understanding the purpose of conducting a health assessment, considering how a health assessment might be conducted differently on the setting and age of the patient or client and further develop the written communication skills critical to professional practice. Every patient that walks through the door has a health assessment performed on.
